a brief prelude
There is definitely a music scene here in St. Petersburg, FL. It is young and ripe with potential. The vision of this blog comes from a desire to represent the St. Pete scene. It will serve several purposes. One of them is to give an inside look at the creation and the intent of the music. This will be accomplished by talking with the songwriters/musicians about the writing and recording process. Another is to represent local bands, allowing people outside of St. Petersburg to access the music made here. Also, I plan to record bands, write about the recording process and post the recordings on this blog, similar to Daytrotter or Shaking Through.
As far as album write ups go, this blog is not going to take someone’s art and assign a number to it representing how “good” it is. That is not the idea at all. Neither will it write to describe an album’s sound. I believe the individual can discern that themselves by simply listening to the music, not by reading a flowery description of it.
Hopefully this blog offers something unique, something not previously accessible to everyone, and that is the people and the story behind the music.
